I'm looking for any information about the Brooks mentioned on the Historical Marker in Sullivan County that mentions "Two children of John Brooks and son-in-law, Joseph Hubbard, were killed here by Brant's Mohawks and Tories, 1778"

I've found several refrences to this John Brooks and Joseph Hubbard. (Stickley's -A History of the Minisink Region; Quinlan's--History of Sullivan County) Some mention that some of the family was taken captive.  Others mention that there were 11 people in the household.

I believe he is John Brooks b. 1744 in Ridgefield, CT,  the Joseph Hubbard may possibly his uncle not his son-in-law. I'm trying to locate any additonal information that would help shed some light on this.

****correction--John Brooks was born in 1755.
