I am the g-g-grandaughter of Caleb Conklin who can be found in the (Minisink) Wawayanda 1850 census.  We have recently found his parents who were
James S. Conklin and Sally or Sarah Strickland.  Caleb was born in 1828 and was the oldest of the children under the age of 21 when his father died in 1847.  James the father and Caleb were Shoemakers.  Caleb married Catherine Gould Nov 14, 1849 in Minisink NY.  Caleb then moved to Greenville, Orange County, NY in 1853 and in 1855 was is Oneida, Delaware County, IA and he appears to have died before 1860.
I know there are a lot of Conklin's in this area.  James and Sarah Conklin had 8 children that we know of from the guardianship papers.

Caleb P Conklin b. June 19, 1828
Agnes Conklin b. Feb 5, 1829
Martin W Conklin b. Feb 22, 1831
Nathaniel J Conklin b. Jan 27, 1834 - Civil War Vet Co. K 124th NY Infantry
James H. Conklin b. March 12, 1836 - Civil War Vet 123rd Infantry NY Died in Chester, NY 1916
Phebe Jane Conklin b. March 13, 1839
Harriet Conklin b. June 7, 1841
Eliza Conklin b. Sept 22, 1844

I am looking for any information or ideas to locate these family members and the parents of James S. Conklin. The children appear to be placed with multiple families in the 1850 census and I suspect that Sarah/Sally died young also.

My name is Larry Karl and I descend from James Henry Conklin, civil war veteran and member  of the famous Orange Blossoms. He was with the 124th regiment, company K of the N.Y.S. volunteers.  I have a copy of his obituary that states his father's name was James Clark Conklin, husband of Sarah Strickland.  Does anyone have any info on both of them?

My Murray ancestors married into the Conklin family via my gg grand father James Slaine Murray. Of his father and uncles, at least one, Hugh E. Murray was born in Westtown, NY.  For years I have been attempting to obtain the name of by ggg grandfather and his wife Sarah Slaine Murray. If anyone has info on them living in the Minisink area, I would appreciate if you would share with me.

With thanks and appreciation

Yes, you are correct Larry.  I made the error of asking for the 123rd Regiment from the National Archives pension file and received the pension of the wrong James H. Conklin.

Unfortunately, it cost me another $80 to get the correct file.     I have the other James Conklin's information:
The James H. Conklin that served in the 123rd Regiment was born in Argyle, NY and died Nov 8, 1904.  He was married to Hannah Bibbons per the pension file. They had 2 children.

The James Henry Conklin that served in the 124th Regiment Company K had a birthday that corresponds to the one I listed above in the guardianship file. He married Mary Ann Meguey (McGoey) .  Mary Ann was born Aug 17, 1841
Caleb's brothers Martin and Nathaniel also served in the Civil War.  Martin W Conklin was an officer in the 56th Regiment Company D and Nathaniel J Conklin was also in the 124th Regiment Company K unfortunately he was labeled a deserter when he left the hospital without the proper discharge papers. His testimony indicated that he weighed 95 lbs on his 5 foot 10 inch frame and family went to Virginia to help him return home.  He engaged the Confederates while on picket duty near Chancellorsville in May of 1863.  His left thumb was shot off and he had wounds from a shell in his thigh and left hip and ankle.   Nathaniel's last correspondence that I have found is in Feb 26th 1914 when he was living in the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Bath, NY. I suspect he is buried there.
