I have been spending endless hours on ancestry.com when I happen upon this wonderful local website.

Some of my ancestors appeared to come through western Orange County, but I cannot verify.

James A. Conklin, born in 1799, Huguenot, N.Y.  Married Sarah Strickling (yob 1810). Had a least 1 son James H. Conklin born 3/12/1836, Deerpark, who fought in the cival war with the N.Y.S. 124th volunteer infantry regiment. Known as "The Orange Blossoms". James H. may have been character Jimmie Conklin in "The Red Badge of Courage" novel.  James H. married Mary Ann McGoey, another family line that came through western Orange County.
